Business Activities:
The business distributes a range of wheel trims and other car accessories, specialising in products required by the dealer network to ready second-hand cars for disposal. Founded since the 1980’s, the business has been successfully developed by the current proprietors since their acquisition in 2000. The sale has been instructed in order that the proprietors can concentrate resources on their non-competing activities in another sector of the automotive market.
The majority of sales derive from an extensive range of car wheel trims. Fast moving plastic and chrome-plated styles are imported from long-standing suppliers in the Far East, whilst premium quality aluminium trims are manufactured in Europe. These are imported and stored in lightweight easily handled outer cartons. Although large customers take pallet loads, most receive outer cartons by way of express delivery services. The remaining sales come from US sourced air fresheners, together with card and counter displays, UK manufactured car mats and sundry products such as window stickers and key tags.
The business has a long-standing nationwide customer base, including leading car dealerships and distributors of a range of car accessories into the motor trade. There are around 250 regular customers, with the largest representing 12% of sales in the last accounting year.
The proprietors believe there is significant potential to develop the business from the solid base and reputation that has now been established in its niche market. New aftermarket products could be sold to the dealer network, such as polishes, waxes, shampoos and traffic film remover. The business could also increase sales of wheel trims by pro-actively targeting the retail market with appropriate products.
The business is administered by an employee working 50% of their time, supported on a part-time basis by other individuals primarily in buying, unloading deliveries and occasional telesales. Stock occupies up to 4,800 sq ft of warehouse space, the bulk accounted for by wheel trims. As the warehouse will be needed for the proprietors’ other activities, re-location will be required to alternative premises anywhere within the UK. Transitional arrangements will be offered, subject to agreement of terms.
Sale Basis:
The business is offered for sale on an asset and goodwill basis. The price includes goodwill, rights to the trading name and stocks on the day of completion. A full handover will be provided to assist the purchaser, subject to agreement of terms.
