Expansion potential:

The brewery is currently run part-time (2-3 days/week), as it has been non-core, but demands for its products keep on growing, which, currently cannot be met due to one of the partner’s health being compromised, thus preventing further expansion. Currently the business sells mainly in the south east. At present in the region of 30,000 bottles are produced per year; this can easily be doubled and the brand allows for expansion in other areas, alcohol and non-alcohol, to gain further market awareness and penetration. Total sales for the last year have been £60K with a gross profit of 65%.

There is also a growing demand for the brewery to run various bars at public events, especially over the summer time, which are great opportunities from the social, marketing and financial aspects.

Competition / Market:

The brewery has so far been in a unique position in that it specialises in bottled, rather than casked ales and so caters for the take-home market rather than pubs. With recent anti-smoking legislation, the casked ale market has been greatly hit, but this measure has not affected the bottled beers. There may be more breweries considering to enter the bottling market but the vendor does not consider threat as it is already an established brand in this field. Great emphasis is placed on quality, label design and presentation and this needs be maintained to keep the current market position.
